My #AtoZChallenge Short Cut

Okay, I've been thinking about all the things that made it easy for me to keep up with this fabulous Challenge last year. I need simplicity because of the shortage of time I have with four demanding kids underfoot. As a mom, I tend to find short cuts and augment my time. Aside from exposing my secret, here's another thing to add to its ease (and I hope it helps you too!)

First, I open my list of A to Z bloggers. Going down the list, and by hovering my mouse over each blogger link with my left button down, I drag it up to the browser tab. Do that for as many bloggers as you plan to visit that day/session. Now, I whip out my timer and set it for fifteen minutes, so that's fifteen blogs for me. Yes, it takes me a minute per blog--I don't frivol away my time because it's precious to me!

Important: Do not hit "publish" for any of your comments until after your timer rings. After it goes off, then go back and publish all your comments.

Note: For the pop-up window comments requiring the anti-spam code--you do not need to hit "publish", rather, just hit enter. (A time saver thing I've learned).

Do you have any blogging short cuts you'd like to share with us?

  5. Oh, Elizabeth, you are serious about this, which is really great. I have no idea how I will be able to read all the blogs. I will do my best, probably the old-fashioned way down the list. Thanks for sharing this.

    1. Inger, that's great, too! I go down the list and drag each blogger link to a tab and then read each post and comment as I go.

  6. I haven't decided if I am going to do the challenge this year or not (my husband says no, but maybe I just won't tell him :) - oh wait, that won't work - he's subscribed to my blog), but if I don't I will still try to read blogs. I love your shortcut, last year I did the random blog button - but I felt like I missed a lot.

  7. Well, I never knew about dragging a link to the browser tab. That is a great tip. I've signed up this year - it got a bit lonely standing on the outside looking in so I thought I'd join the party.

  8. Great tip! I choose however many I'm gong to go through and right click, press "open link in new tab" and have all of the blogs open so I can work through and visit all of them. It lets me see my progress as I go along since I close each window once I've commented.

  9. Interesting approach. I'm so random with blogging and that is a big factor in my time organization. I've thought about the timer idea. Maybe I'll try it if I find a timer around the house.

  13. Isabel Marant (sd2012.4.9)

There’s something incredibly assured about Isabel Marant and her aesthetic that you can close your eyes and see the girl with her just-rolled-out-of-bed hair and minimal make-up with hands in the pockets of skinny trousers, strutting about nonchalantly. That’s the attitude that has given way to a fervent Marant fanbase.
She also seems to have a knack for turning the naff into new, or at the very least refreshed as she honed in on a Western frontier theme that resulted in embroidered yoked shirts, skinny trousers with gaucho curl patterns and cowboy boots. She worked elements of Little House on the Prairie into Edwardian lace dresses and casual shirts. Laser-cut leather and studded mini dresses created the harder and more decorative pieces in the collection.
Still, the silhouette hardly wavered from her tried and tested cropped skinny trouser, the tucked in shirt and pointy pumps as well as a sprinkling of those quilted jackets and satin bombers. Marant gets away with simply changing up the motif because she’s well aware of what her girl wants from an Isabel Marant piece of clothing. Everything has to look like there was minimal effort involved in an ensemble, which is why Marant didn’t try to fix something that clearly wasn’t broken.
