J is for ...

Jazz--Utah's beloved basketball team!

I'm not big into sports, but I've learned something very fascinating about  Jazz! Did you know that they began in 1974 as the New Orleans  Jazz in New Orleans, Louisiana? They decided to move to Utah in '79 after five seasons. It's a mystery to me of the whys, but these guys are amazing, because they've built themselves up from nothing to strong!

What is your state's beloved sports team? Do you know their history?

  1. Grew up watching the Red Sox, even though I don't follow sports too much now. We also spent a lot of time watching golf!

  4. I'm not a basketball fan but I love football and have been a Steelers fan all my life. I went to Penn State back when Franco Harris and Jack Ham were on the team and I've followed the Steelers ever since.

  5. I'm from Alberta so the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers are probably our most 'beloved' sports teams, but only by a hair. Our CFL football teams (Stampeders and Eskimos) also have a load of fans. I've noticed more and more mention of soccer, lacrosse and derby these days too... There's a lot of baseball advertising, but based on how many times our team has changed leagues and ownerships I'm going to guess it's not particularly well-loved LOL

As for the history of any of those teams... I haven't got a clue. Not really. I mean, nothing beyond the fact the Oilers used to rock the NHL and that they're gearing up to do it again ;)

  10. Our Oklahoma City Thunder are newer to us than your Jazz, having only been here since 2008, but we love them just as passionately. They were the Seattle Sonics before coming to us.

Stopping in from A to Z. New follower.

  11. I'm a Houstonian, so I'm all about the Rockets. Until, they go against the Bulls (I was born in Chicago). Then I'm torn. But I'm a Houston Texans (football) fan all the way.

  12. Living in L.A. I'm a Lakers fan, but I don't really follow much. For a while in the late 90s and early 2000s I was watching a lot of basketball and the Jazz were one of my favorite teams
